PRO-JUSTICE, NOT ANTI-CHINA - Amy Yee in the Far Eastern Economic Review
During the past year that I've reported on Tibetan issues from my base in India, one of the Dalai Lama's recurring messages has struck a chord in me. It isn't his well-known calls for peace, nonviolence and compassion. Rather, it's his constant reminder that "We are not against Chinese people. We still have faith in Chinese people."

DHARAMSALA: FORGING TIBETANS' FUTURE - Temtsel Hao in Open Democracy News Analysis

DHARAMSALA DIARY: BUY STOMACHS, WIN HEARTS - Thubten Samphel
The Chinese government has convinced itself that it has "liberated" Tibet. To drive home this conviction to the rest of the world it has bought advertisements in newspapers from Malawi to India to declare the happy news of Tibet's serf liberation day. In Tibet, the authorities tried outright bribery so that the "liberated" serfs willingly join in the celebration. How successful the authorities were in this effort is captured by The Economist's headline on this event: "Damn You, Rejoice."

CHINA'S SERF EMANCIPATION DAY HIDES REPRESSION IN TIBET
China's decision to observe tomorrow as the so-called Serf Emancipation Day is aggravating problems in Tibet. Tibetans consider this observance offensive and provocative. We believe the observance of the "Serf Emancipation Day" on 28 March is aimed at destabilising and creating chaos in Tibet by a few individuals with overriding self-interest. If the Tibetans, losing their patience, took to the streets in protest, the Chinese leaders will have the excuse to use even more brutal force to crackdown.

THE STATEMENT OF HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA ON THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TIBETAN NATIONAL UPRISING DAY
These 50 years have brought untold suffering and destruction to the land and people of Tibet. Even today, Tibetans in Tibet live in constant fear and the Chinese authorities remain constantly suspicious of them. Today, the religion, culture, language and identity, which successive generations of Tibetans have considered more precious than their lives, are nearing extinction; in short, the Tibetan people are regarded like criminals deserving to be put to death.
